In Midlothian, Scotland (Edinburgh and beyond) there is a volunteer group called Recording Angels. They have gone round some of the churchyards recording all the information they can. They have published booklets listing this information. It is an ongoing project and a very worthwhile one. |

As Joan says the newspapers are definitely worth a try. My own family had next to nothing and always lived hand to mouth, but still managed to put a small announcement in the local newspaper for any family death. I think they felt it was something that they "should" find the money for. |

I love graves, got some of my most useful info from them that I wouldn't otherwise have known. |

In 1942 many churchyards may still have been used for burials, depending on where she lived. |
