where were he in 1881 and 1891 census

Hi , My ggrand dad George William Smith 1873 - 1949 I cant find him in those 2 census. I got him in 1901 and 1911 by using his wife name. I know it is so common name!! I wonder if I get his death certificate will it help me more or not? |

Where did he say he was born on the 1901 census? What was his wife's name? Do you know when and where they married? |

On 1901 Hampton, surrey and 1911 Kingston, surrey. It is only few miles different and they were living in Wapping, East London. They got married in 1895 in Wapping. She is Adelaide Alice Hobbs. I did wonder if George William is his real name? It was stated on his marriage certificate. |

The witness to their marriage were George William HOBBS and Charlotte SMITH, it is similar to the faathers name! |
