Hi Mary

Thank goodness I'm not alone - I thought it was my computer.

I've just got rid of my Temp Files and done re-start and after I've sent this I'm going to try my Hot Matches again, but I have a funny feeling that nothing will have changed? I'll let you know one way or another.

Cheers.

Joy

Hi,

Well I've cleared my Temp. Files, did a Re-start but nothing has changed on my Hot Matches. Is there anything else you can suggest?

Mary, can you let me know if it clearing your Temp Files and Re-starting works for you?

Cheers.

Joy.

YES, YES, YES!!

Thanks for the tip about trying Firefox. I've just downloaded it and My Hot Matches are now as they should be - with the box to tick!!!

Thank you ever so much, you've no idea how pleased I am...

MARY

If you still have the same trouble as me try Firefox too.

Thanks to everyone for their input I truly appreciate it.

Cheers

Joy.

And now that you have Firefox -- make sure you have Adblock! If you're seeing flashing ads, you need it right away. ;)

One thought I had is that if anyone having the problem is using Firefox, you might have gone a little overboard on NoScript? It will sometimes block fill-in boxes.

Now I just have to wonder why I don't have "Use purple box to send your message. Remember, if you do not want this person to see your tree, un-tick the box above the 'Send Message' button" anywhere at all when I click on a hot match ... but that's okay, I know to do it. ;)

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1865

It's set up these days to block most standard sources of ads, like doubleclick and wunderloop (which is a source at this site).

But if you find you're seeing ads you don't want still, you just right click on the ad and select to block it, and it's gone.

I use it to eliminate annoying useless graphics on webpages too, things that are just ugly and use up space on the monitor and make me scroll more. Like the set of banner ads at the top of this page, which I think includes an orange one for FriendsReunited. I hate orange. I don't want those things using up space. Right click, block, and they're gone. Along with whatever else clutters up the top and bottom of the page, the guy in the top hat, and the background design. Crisp and clean and clear, for me!

I tried Chrome a few weeks ago and hated it, so I can't advise on that.

The Adblock I linked to is specifically for Firefox. And you have to install it specifically. (It's very fast and very easy.)

So to have the right-click, block function I have, you have to be using Firefox and have Adblock installed.

I'm sticking with my Firefox for now, and it's what I always recommend!
