1901 and 1911 census for Ireland - free

Does anyone know when the 1901 Irish Census was taken? I've looked around the site but cannot find anything that says the time of year it was taken. I have a child who is 2 months old on the census so would like to know when it was taken so I can compare it to the birth record which I plan on getting. |

The UK Government are really foolish not to make the UK censuses free too rather trying to extract extortionate amounts of money for not very slick services. This is a classic public good where the additional cost of user access is zero. More to the point it would be a significant vote winner given the large number of people interested in the subject and would help foster a sense of national identity and interest in the UK from those in the US, Australia, NZ, Canada etc with ancestors in the UK |
