Just had a thought, though it changes little. She was 46 when she married from what you say! Had she married before? I assume you are certainof her maiden name from her children's births?

I've been thinking the same thing Jan. The trouble is it's taking ages for Free BMD to look for a Simpson marriage to a Daisy and Ancestry only works with surnames.

Also Teresa - how do you know she has a second Christian name starting with S ? She is only listed as Daisy on her marriage and death.

Oops, perhaps I shouldn't have posted that. Possibly still living. Should I delete?

Her signature is in my dad's army pay book and it's Daisy S Simpson.

Funny you should say that about being married before, the name

McKinnon( not sure of spelling) has been found amongst some papers .

Hi Teresa,
Found this via FreeBMD Marriages Dec 1905....

A Gordon L McKinnon died in 1940 aged 56 in Fulham. Maybe they had got divorced?

Christine2 Report 21 Mar 2010 09:49

There are 6 possible McKinnon births with mmn as Parkinson on Free BMD between 1913 and 1924 - all in the london area.

Margaret don't worry about posting,my uncle Patrick died in the 70's.

I am absolutely flabbergasted that you have helped me and found out so much so quickly ! I really must find out where I'm going wrong on my searches.Any ideas would be gratefully received !
My dad's sister is called Georgina, there is a Georgina Mckinnon so things do seem to be tying together,my aunt, before she got dementia, was adamant that she did'nt want me delving into the family history. Now I'm beginning to see why.
Once again many thanks to you all.

Looking for Gordon McKinnon on the 1911 with a Daisy at the same address, there is only one, born 1886. His wife states age 24 (b approx 1887). Looking at the 1891 and 1901 census for Daisy Parkinson, there are 3 in 1891 (the closest in age is b Bedford), and 12 in 1901 - the most likely match to Bedford states b Maidenhead, and is a servant in Kensington, a good fit for the location of the 1905 marriage. The 1911 census site agrees that Daisy was born in Maidenhead.

However, there doesn't seem to be an obvious birth registration in Beds or Berks in the 1880s for a Daisy Parkinson.
