Glad to hear you are getting there. Can you briefly explain what you needed to do?

Might be of help to others in future.

I'm not convinced that Internet Explorer has actually been deleted. I was always told you couldn't delete it as it was integrated into the rest of windows.

I can understand that you home page might have gone - this is simply held as a cookie and is not part of the main Explorer program

Edgar,

You say you can get on to the intenet - what is on your screen when you do this?

Are you able to run anything which looks remotely like a browser? This is why I was asking the question yesterday as to what it says in the blue band top of screen. Is there any mention of Internet Explorer? Are there any action buttons visible?

If IE has been corrupted, as it the most likely cause, then it might be possible to fix it by restoring to a previous good installation, but this will only work if you a suitable restore point to go back to.

If this isn't possible then try to repair things using the original installation disk.

If all else fails, you may need to consider a new clean install. Down side of this is that any other programs on your pc will be lost and will require a re-installation. You will also need to ensure that all your data files are backed up safely.

I have not heard of being able to copy IE from one PC and successfully install it on another, because of the way it is integrated into windows and is not simply a stand alone program, but will be happy to hear if anyone has achieved it

Hi Edgar
I am not an expert but when my neighbour messed up on her computer I clicked onto System Restore for her. It then asks if you want to go further back than 5 days, if this is the case , tick accordingly and then click onto the date when your computer was ok. Her computer then started up on its own and unjammed her 61 requests to print and whatever she had done at it .-JLe

On your laptop download IE8 from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx

Save it to you desktop and then put it on cd or USB stick and transfer it to your other pc. Run it on there and it should install IE8 onto your other PC.

Hope this helps!

Try holding down,
ctrl+windows on keyboard this should bring up start menu,,from there go into control panel and click Internet Options,,you should be able to sort it from the tab,Programes to make IE default,,,but if your not sure let a shop reinstate it,,

Before we get a man in lets just try and work out what has happened here.

Clearly if Edgar can access the internet he must have a browser installed so it is unlikely IE has been removed, hence my question earlier.

Are you sure it was internet Explorer that has been removed? If so, how are you accessing the internet?

What does it say top left in the blue bar at the very top of the screen?

Colin

Silly question I know but --

is it IE that has been deleted or just the shortcut to it on the desktop?
