Dorothy E A JAN 1932 Gedge

But when you check with the name Rennie they also show up on GR
There is no way Rosetta had a child at ten
Rosetta born 1919 ,please have a look and let me know what has gone on

Can't find anything for Sheena M Annetts other than her birth.

She may have died young, in which case that means a trawl through the death indexes quarter by quarter which is a huge job.

She may not have married - in which case there are no deaths registered between 1984 and 2005 for her, but then of course she may still be alive!!

Ancestry are in the process of transcribing all the deaths up to 2005 and making them fully searchable but that won't be online until Christmas.

She doesn't appear in any of the trees on GR either.

I did originally think they may not be with their parents in 1911 as I wasn't sure who the Jesseal was as he married in 1909 under the name of Israel (so I thought he couldn't be their father!) but on reflection I think that the Ezra I found them with in 1901 is actually the Israel/Jesseal from the 1911 census. So Ezra/Israel/Jesseal are the same man I think.

So they are with their father in 1911 but their mother, Caroline, died in late 1901 and Ezra/Israel re-married in 1909 so Elizabeth is their step-mother.

You say on one of my threads that Francis and frederick may not be living with there parents.
Can i find out where they went or who they stayed with ?
Next time you are out wandering please have a look in the graveyard for any information will be much appreciated.
As far as i know Francis died in 1948 of TB and he is laid to rest at Dartford
He has still 2 daughters and 1 son alive That did not take his surname
How sad is that
The one i know was only 12 when he died and she dont no a lot about her dad and she is 73.
So it's my mission to solve the puzzle with your great HELP

I'm thinking that Sophia Lovelock was probably the bride rather than Sophia Knapp given the middle name of George Lovelock Annetts born in 1861.

Next door is John Annetts aged 67 widower born Great Bedwyn - possibly Ezra senior's father???

So, it looks like Francis' father was christened Ezra but used the name Israel from time to time!!!


Great Bedwyn is not far from me - next time I'm out wandering I'll go across that way and see what's in the graveyard for you!! A bit macabre but I might find something.

The Thomas Annetts on this census is possibly a cousin of Ezra - his parents are Thomas and Eliza Annetts and he was born in Ham, Wiltshire. So, possibly his father Thomas is a brother to Ezra senior.

Stanford Dingley and Burghfield are in the Bradfield registration district. Looks like Frederick and Francis were being called by their middle names.

Looks like this could be the death of Francis' mother, so the Elizabeth on the 1911 (marriage to Israel in 1909) would be Francis' step-mother.

A PM is a private message - if you look in your inbox you will find it there! I sent a private message as the youngest child was born in 1935 and could well still be alive.

I found the passenger lists - outgoing and incoming on Ancestry. I then did a check on Freebmd for birth registrations for the children on the passenger lists. This revealed that their mothers maiden name was Gedge.

So, knowing that there didn't appear to be a marriage showing up for Francis Albert Annetts and knowing that his wife's name on the passenger lists was Dorothy I then went back to Freebmd and looked for a marriage for Dorothy Gedge just prior to 1920 which was when the first child was born. This brought up the marriage I posted below.

Which one of the children was your grandparent?

Personally I would now buy either the birth certificate or marriage certificate for Francis so that you can confidently take the next step backwards. I woud also buy some credits for the 1911

and checkout the original page to see what is going on there. 60 credits will cost approx £6.95 and to view the original page will cost 30 credits. Unfortunately I think you'll have to look at the original to see if the transcriber has mid-read the name for the head of the house.
