I've got a Minnie who was really an Annie - just to give another line of thought. |

I agree that there is something not right about the ages on the census. Also I think when twins were born they put the time of birth on the certificate so it might be something to look out for. |

THere is only 1 Frank born in Ledbury though. I suggest you put checking point of at least his father's name - that way it will save you £4 if it is the wrong one. |

Thanks all, great input to the thread. I was going for minnies birth as there are a couple of Frank's born around the right time. Wanted to be 100 % sure before sending for cert as this is research for friend of my moms. don't want her spending more money than she has to as she is a pensioner. |

I think there's a mistake in the 1891 census. Frank is listed as 11 in 1901 and 22 in 1911, making this birth more likely: |

can't find Annie either - they don't seem to have registered the later children after they moved from Devon |

I agree with Janet, often Minnie is used for a woman with a small build. |

Any reason they could be in London? |

if it is mary's maiden name you are after I would suggest sending for Williams birth certificate |

not sure that the Frank you are looking for is the Herform 1890 one. If he was 1mth old on the 1891 census he would have been born in the early months of 1891. Also if he was born in Ledbury that is a reg district in its own right. Can't find Annie's reg either. |

Philomena? Of course she could have just been petite and hence the name. |

I am assuming from the 1891 Minnie and Frank were twins. I'm looking for a birth ref for them to get mothers maiden name. There are a couple of Franks which could match so thought by getting minnies birth it might be easier. famous last words eh? |

have you tried just searching for the surname without any first name, you'd be surprised how some names can be transcribed |
