Hey fudgy gillian....welcome to my thread..lol !!

Ok....W"e know frederick Warren married Martha Askew.....by the way she died in Reading 1973...I'm full of these jewels.
Frederick Arthur Warren 1857-1919 (died Belper)
married Ethel .....(born 1850)
Their children were:
Mary E 1875
Louisa 1878
Frederick 1882
Arthur 1889-1912

But freddie boy did have one or two siblings.

He and they were the children of WILLIAM WARREN 1813-1885 of Duffield nad MARY SLATER 1816-1895...

You see how local all your family were..Warren Askew.all in and around Belper/Duffield.the one place i don't hasve parish records for.
but because i am brilliant, downright intuitive, a lateral thinker and a STAR!! I am able to drag diamonds out of a cess pool...............
like for instance......
William and mary Warren had the following children:

John 1835
Elizabeth 1837
Frances 1839
Mary 1840
George 1843
Louisa 1845
Alexander 1851
Arthur Charles 1854-1856
FREDERICK ARTHUR 1857-1919

Now i'm going for rubdown with a wet news of the World.....xx

brilliance
is taking its toll on me...goodnight!

Hi Derek......

Still on the trail of my furniss clan, and after making contact with a distant relative am looking for a marriage of

Thomas furniss to Sarah? c1795.......

My contact has given me a Thomas furniss marraige to Sarah Whildon on 2nd August 1784 in Chesterfield, my contact then says they moved to Derby c 1797/1798 where they had further children........ my problem is I think there are 2 Thomas furniss married to sarah around that time.

Can you please either confirm from your records the Thomas furniss/Sarah Whildon marriage in 1784, it is on the IGI but would you have any additional information on it, or shed any light on any other possibilitys ?....

Thanks in advance.

Hi Derek

I had previously asked you to look up some info on Winchesters of Chesterfield. You mentioned that there were lots on parishes in Chesterfield to go thru. This family appears to disappear by the 1841 census ( no Whinchester, or only one or 2), would you have the Burial index for Chesterfield and are there any Winchesters on it ? .

Cheers for now...

Derek Report 16 Nov 2008 15:44

Hello Mandy..unfortunately I have only Partial Parish records for Hayfield and for Glossop.....I have the full Bishops Transcripts but unfortunately they end at 1810...
So all I can do is confirm the information you have given me James and Esther (Downs)..and four children....one of whom is William who married Caroline..
BUT..I have no record of William remaarying to Ann..
The William groves who marrried Ann(e) was born in Nottingham....
I'll keep looking for you, but I'm a bit weak on the very Northern part of Derbyshire

All the best

Derek.

Hi karen..seems odd but i can find no burials in the whole of Derbyshire for Winchester.I'm sure there were some.
But..I have had a look on the census returns,,and it seems that most of the Winchester's moved out of the area....some down south....But one guy..who seems not to have ever married is on FOUR consecutive Censuses..Born Chesterfield....lived for 40 years or more in Nottingham..not a stone's throw from where i live!!
Sorry not to be more use.

Hi Derek,

Tks for the reply.

The Winchester who moves to Notts is the brother of Julia, whose family I have traced and is on my direct line. His name is Thomas, he married but was widowed by the 1841 census. I have been able to trace Julia and her husband Henry Harley, but as you can see have come to brick wall with the Winchesters.

Many tks for your help.
Cheers.

Hi karen.sorry i couldn't be of any real help..but its one hell of a story..Thomas Winchester..I see now..was a widower...but lived in the same house at 1 Red Street radford Nottingham for 40 years.alone..except that latterly he took in lots of lodgers.....
Sadly the street no longer exists..and equally sadly i can't find him on the 1841 census...
I really must try and find Chesterfield parish records that show his birth....It was c 1800....

Keep in touch.

Derek x
