I need some help with some conflicting information I keep coming across. I posted this in another thread and got some replies, but if you have the time it would be great to have all the information in one place. Plus I need to confirm some stuff where I originally didn't note my sources.

I have a definite name of a man and I'm trying to work back from him. I think the original records I had of him may have been the wrong ones so I need to double check.

Details are -
Samuel William Thomas Blamey
Born Suffolk, 1872. Married to Emily Wenham, around 1899.

I believe his father was a William Thomas Blamey although he possibly could have also had Samuel as a first name and dropped it later.

I need to confirm Samuel from 1872's children - I have Samuel Frederick and a Kathleen. My grandfather, one of his sons, wasn't born until 1909 unfortunately so no census records.

The father, William, I keep coming back to one from Cornwall but there appear to be different records although only one definite person of that name. He was born around 1834. One of the records has him emigrating to Australia and has two children, the other doesn't seem to have emigrated and has different children but doesn't seem to appear on most of the censuses he should be on. As most of the children were born in the London area I'm not convinced the Cornwall one is correct but I can't find any others. I think William married an Eliza but she's very elusive.

Also pretty much the only records I can find for William Blamey born around 1834 are in Cornwall. I hope it is that one as the church is very old and has some good parish records available online.

I have ordered the birth cert for Samuel from 1872 to try and clear it up but I'd really like to see any matching records for these two to try and clear up the confusion. Samuel seems to have been working as a coachman or groom at some point.

I was planning to buy some credit and start searching but I'm waiting for the cert to come through to hopefully confirm some of the info about his parents. Some of my info comes from other trees I found on the web plus IGI data so I think I've gone wrong somewhere with some incorrect information or wrongly matched up with the wrong family. Or I've assumed a census record is the right one and it isn't.

Hi Simon,

I know this means sending for another certificate but it is probably the best way to solve the mystery. marriage certificate will show father's name and occupation

Marriages Mar 1899
BLAMEY Samuel William T Tenterden 2a 1061
Wenham Emily Tenterden 2a 1061

Just for interest it looks as though Emily's brother married in the same quarter
Marriages Mar 1899
Nash Eliza Tenterden 2a 1061
Wenham Frank Tenterden 2a 1061

Let me know if I can be of further help

Hi Jackie,

I am not sure about American census I am trying to find a family who moved from Scotland to California about late 1950's to 1960's.

Is there any way of finding them I am unsure if their census goes up to the 1960's I mean.?

Hi Jackie

Hoping you can find the death details of William Henry Cater born in Leek Staffordshire 1887.

I know that William was still alive in 1944 as he is mentioned as a mourner at the funeral of his step mother Maria ( my grandmother ).

Many thanks
Helen

Thanks Jackie. I'll order the marriage cert and see what's on there. Hopefully that with the birth cert should give me enough to confirm the details.

Hi,

I got the birth cert through on Friday. Turns out my information was wrong.

Samuel W.T. Blamey's Parents were a Samuel John Blamey and Eliza Davis. I found their marriage on FreeBMD, 1871 in Kensington but very little else comes up on FreeBMD, familysearch etc.

I'm thinking I need to double check Samuel is now correct as well, but his son - my grandfather - was born around 1909 and there are no census records available yet that late. I think I might have to order his birth cert as well, and Samuel John/Eliza Davis' marriage cert to try and find more about Samuel John. I've tried using John as his first name as well but still nothing so far.

Hi Jacqueline, Much appreciate your office.

I am looking for anything you can find in Canada of the following family;

Vancouver Canada - possibly Burnaby
Francis Ralph Bothewell born in 1917 I know he married an Elizabel Isabella Pedden but I don't know the year. He died in 1982 and is buried in Burnby cemetary Vancouver which is a Masonic cemetary. She died in 2002 in Burnaby but don't know which cemetary.

I would also love to know if they had any children;

Thanks in advance for any info you may find for me. Regards, Lou

Hi Jacquline

Would you please look in 1891 census for John (T)Scott born 1871 in Woolstanton, Staffs. and any family.

If he is at home it will most likely be in Woolstanton or Newcastle under Lyme

Hi Jacqueline
Thanks for the info re Scott, when I asked I thought that was only one possible that might fit the bill, however now that you have turned up three I will have to do more work on it. If it's not asking too much, would you mind looking again at them and giving me their occupation - the one I am seeking was most likey to have been a Blastfurnaceman or working in a Steel or iron Works.

Thanks again

John

Jacqueline Report 24 Sep 2008 19:47

Hi John,

In order I gave them to you

1 General labourer
2 Grocer's assistant (so unlikely)
3 Colliery /Furnace labourer (so most likely your man)

Hello again Jacqueline,
Thanks again for your speedy reply. I am inclined to agree with you that no.3 is the best option, although before I saw your reply my money was on No 1.
