So if Charlotte remarried in 1853 then John couldnt have been a witness on their sons wedding cert of 1869.Or have I read the info wrong?? |

If he was named on the marriage cert and it did not have deceased written against it I would not take that as meaning he was still alive. My mother named her father on the marriage cert without putting "deceased" - he had died when she was 4 years old! |

Joyce , the fathers name is quoted on marriage certs if known. what didn't always happen tho was that the father was recorded as deceased. Depended on how the question was asked when the marriage was being arranged, ie "fathers name" to which an honest answer would be given , but not ventured on that with by the way he now dead!!. |
