I'M NOT SURE IF I'M ON THE RIGHT MESSAGE BOARD!!!

Can someone help-I'm looking for the marriage of Thomas Pelling born 1802 Brighton. He married Eliza before 1826 and probably at St Nicholas church Brighton, but i can't find a thing on it.They are not together in 1841 and must have seperated. Eliza is with one child and Thomas living with his mother and 2 more children.
I have found a possible death of the youngest child Frances and sent for her death cert to see if any clues of mothers surname.

Is there anyother way of finding Eliza's surname out.
The only thing i can think of is to visit Brighton and search parish records. The only problems is that i'm in Manchester and its along way to go.

Thanks

Stephanie

Wow!! HOW DO YOU DO IT?
I have come across Caroline Pelling only to find someone else had her in their tree with different parents than mine-still fathers Name Thomas and Mother Elizabeth/Eliza.
Also they had mary 1829 and Frances 1831. So now i'm not sure. William and Frances together with Thomas fatherin 1841 so 100% on them. Mary with her mother 1841 and in St Pancras 1851.

I'LL PRINT ALL THE INFO OFF AND START AGAIN.
How did you find it so quickly? I've been on it for days.

Thanks ever so much Margaret-Your a star

Thanks Stephanie for the web sites. Just had a quick glance atthem and book marked them to go back later. They will take me a while to get through.

Cheers Donna

The only previous marriage of Henry Pelling on the BVRI discs is this one but it's in Rye, Sussex:

PELLING, Henry Marriage

I'm quite shocked at the thought of Henry being married before. He must have been very young for a first marriage. I just thought folk in those days married and stayed together. Thats why i was surprizes by Henry's son Thomas living seperatly from his wife.Maybe Henry's first wife died young then

Where did you get all this info from and how do i get on it Margaret. I can't beleive you found all this. I had just scratched the surface.

Thanks

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 1 Mar 2008 21:58

There are no children of Henry & Elizabeth on the BVRI discs and also no children of Henry & Mary.

Donna

Donna Report 1 Mar 2008 22:03

Margaret.What are BVRI Disc?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 1 Mar 2008 22:05

All of the info came from BVRI which is British Vital Records Index. It's a set of 16 cd's that you purchase from the LDS Church. They're extracted from parish records so quite reliable. They usually cover those not on IGI although there is sometimes some overlap.
They contain 10.4 million births and christenings and 1.9 million marriages in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales from 1530-1906.
Sounds wonderful doesn't it? But it ain't so hot. I've never been able to find any of my family on them. Believe me, you were just lucky.

i WANT ONE FOR cHRISTMAS. I might write to Santa Early. I wish i'd known earlier. Its my birthday tomorrow and my husband wanted ideas. I gave him a list of history books that i had reviewed in the hope he would get me something i would use. He needs help like that because one year i got a wok and a snoppy hairdryer. The mind boggles!!
