Derek,

sorry, I'm the immigrant here and I have never worked out how to find things in the canadian records. There is no one central database, you ahve to work province by province, and they also have different access laws than in the UK.

I suggest you put up a new thread asking specifically for help with that family. There are several Canadians, and others, who do have access to the records, and know how to find their way round them.

Anything I may find has always been by sheer good luck! Although I may have to steel myself and learn what to do as I think I have just found an obituary card for a distant connection of husband's who died in Winnipeg in the 1920s.

I agree

My names are mainly Cadd and Schofield, my husband's are Park and Taylor (and Roberts and Hughes in Wales)

................ and they all use and re-use the same christian names so you are never sure whether you are dealing with siblings or cousins or "kissing" cousins!

I have found out ome bits from the IGI batch records that he was born in Bermondsey in 1801 and had three children John 1825 Mary 1827 and William 1828. baptised in Bermondey but there isnt any marriages for them here either...so they must have moved!

It might be worh searching on www.freebmd.org.uk .................. it's a free site, so it doesn't cost you anyhtign!!

people born in 1825, 1827 and 1828 will have got married after registration started in September 1837.

Then you can start chasing them on the censuses.
