There are no births that would fit the first John E but a few births that would fit for the second John. I still don't think he's the right one though.

So, instead of going on a wild goose chase for these children, we'll wait and see what the death cert turns up.

I'll have a look at William George Darby now and post what I find.

Hi Joanne,

I've been looking for William George and there's really only one that fits, name and age-wise.

Name: William George Darby
Year of Registration: 1876
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Eastry
County: Kent
Volume: 2a
Page: 885

Because he was quite a bit older than Frances, I wouldn't mind betting he was married before. I'll see if I can find him on the census records.

Debs

I'm having problems finding him on the 1901. Probably mis-transcribed. Hopefully, someone else will spot him.

I can't see a likely looking marriage for him prior to his marriage to Frances.

Hi Joanne,

This is William's death ref.

Oct/Nov/Dec 1940

Darby, William G age 64 Edmonton vol 3a pg 1459

The details of his death will be on the cert along with spouse and informant. I don't imagine that it will be pleasant reading though. Poor man!

Such a sad ending.

Just to clarify - Im ordering death cert for William Darby (Baker)
Do i still need one for Jack who was thought to be Frances 1st husband ?
You mention William had a wife before - Did they have children ?

Just want to make sure im ordering the right certificates & really want to make sure the tree im doing is correct...

If i open imy tree up, would you mind taking a peep & give me your verdict ?

Hi Joanne,

I thought that William may have been married before he married Frances because of his age, but I couldn't find a marriage for him. It looks like Frances was his only wife.

It's pretty conclusive that we have the right Frances and William marriage and that Frances was married to Jack before this.

Because Frances and Jack didn't appear to have any children in their short time together, there would be no reason to look any further along Jack's family line.

Purchasing his certs would clarify what we've already discovered, so you'd have peace of mind knowing you've got the right people, but that would be the only purpose for buying the certs.

I'll be happy to have a quick look at your tree.

Now, how does Druscilla Death come into this story, or is she another chapter all together?
