Hi can anyone please help me i have hit a wall.
My ggg grandfather was Isaac Sandoe born in Cornwall around 1835. He married Sarah Swayne around 1863 and had a son James and a daughter
with Sarah they were born in London, My gg grandmother however was Emma Caroline Sandoe
and she had a sister Margaret who i believe were born in Cornwall both born before he married Sarah. I can not find any birth information on either
Emma or Margaret. I was thinking maybe they were adopted is there anyway i can find if they were.

Hi Lorraine! We're not related, but we have a very tenuous connection. ;)

My grx2 grfather Francis Hoare Hill was business partners with Samuel Sandoe Bice at some point around 1857 -- the Archives has a record of a draft mining lease between them and a landowner in Callington, Cornwall. Bice subsequently emigrated to Australia, where his son became a farm machinery manufacturer and a prominent politician. I suspect that when my gr-grfather Hill (called Monck, another story) later went to Australia it was to work with Bice.

Still we just have "Cornwall".

So anyhow, what I think isn't that she was adopted, it's that she was born to an unmarried mother. Registered in the mother's name, but used Sandoe's name. I just can't figure out what name!

You do need to get her marriage certificate, to check that she named Sandoe as her father.

What do we know about sister Margaret?

There are only two Margaret Sandoe marriages:
Truro 1852
Chorlton 1915
Neither one is a remote possibility.

My grx2 grfather was born in Tamerton Foliott, which became Stonehouse in his 1851 census record, when he was living in Cornwall. A lot of crossover there. It's all essentially Plymouth.
