I went back to the wrong census page and copied the wrong Georges -- 1871. I meant those Georges in 1861, i.e. Joseph was gone. Duh. Keeping all those windows open is useful, you just have to flip back to the right one!

It's definitely Jos, not Jas, btw. The "a" in "Chas" -- "Cha" with an uppercase "s" -- is plainly an "a", and the "o" in "Jos" -- "Jo" with an uppercase "s" -- are completely different.
