Hi Tracy....thanks for your generous offer! Could you please, at your convenience, see if you can find anything on the following: Leopold Ferdinand Cosky (born April 18, 1860) came to this country from Germany on or about April 26, 1874 at the age of 14 and ended up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As far as we know, neither his parents nor any other family members are known to have been with him. No record of his departure from ships with immigrants coming to this country could be found so far, so we assume that the family legend, that he was a stowaway on a ship, just might be true. He became a citizen on Oct.8, 1887 when he was 27 years old. There is a family member out in California who has the family bible from Leopold's second marriage and the family name written in the book is (Von) Kimenheimcosky. Many thanks! Judy |

Hi Tracy, does that include stops to Canada too. I have a relative named Bartholomew McDermott who emmigrated to Canada shortly after 1893. He became the first train driver to cross America I believe from what my parents tell me. You probably won't be able to find him, but just in case, he was born in 1871, if that is of any help. Take care and happy hunting Gillian (McDermott) Hindley |
