gerrard street is still around, this one looks too good to overlook, i will have to check this out. the only question is did he marry and if so annie was born around 83/84 so where is she and her mother if he was just a lodger in 91? But even if he is not her father it gives me a truscott link up north. thanks Trisha and Crista |

What was occu of John . I am half alseep!!! Why do you say she is back with her family in 1901 - they are in London and she is in Manchester. What happened to the child she had in Manchester. My great grandmother's sister conceived an illegitimate child in London and was packed off to Ilkeston to have the baby which was then fostered in Ilkeston. She then returned to London where she eventually married. We have to eliminate people here. We have to start with John - he has to be connected to the Chemical industry and his 2nd name has to be Edward. So if you don't reply tonight I will check the thread tomorrow. |

Oh, heck, Lynsey, John was a solicitor's clerk. He's not her dad. Why did you think he was -I've lost the thread of this!!! Was he on marriage cert to Edward Eburn. We've come full circle again. How about looking on 1837 again for all Annie's born over those 2 years.. Going to bed now. Tricia |

hi tricia sorry for confusing you, what i was saying was that there was no link for the eburn annie as he father was john and she lived in london with him in 1901. This is why i have not done much research with that one as i didnt think there was a link. Sorry Crista..whos Mary Mitchell, Could Annie be short for Hannah? |

just looked on 1837 from 1883 'til early85. I found the two annies I have ruled out by father and occupation but I found a Johanna born JAS 1884 in prescot, which is the registration district for here, but I cannot find her on any census on ancestry. Edwin Truscott who you found was born Edwin in st Austell or that was the only one i found over a period around the 1863 date. why do I feel the brick wall is coming back. |

Lynsey, Mary Mitchell was the widow who married Edwin Truscott. I'm think I saw some Johanna Truscotts last night. Off to have a look. Crista |

Crista, I will have to leave this to you. My computer keeps crashing and it has taken 25 minutes to add this reply. Lynsey - you didn't confuse me - I confused myself. I have spent an hour this morning looking for all possibilitoes and combinations and came to the conclusion she may not have been named Truscott at birth. Goodness knows. I have looked for all annie's,Anns and Hannah's age 7/8 under Truscott and all mistranscription I can think of. Unfortunately people often lie on certificates and Annie may well have done this. I can't search anymore at the moment because I can't stay on line for more than a few minutes at a time. So, fingers crossed for Crista and I'll try and have a look at the thread later on. Good luck!!!! |

Lynsey, Edwin's mother was Johanna. One interesting thing is that his sister Elizabeth was a servant in Salford in 1891. Crista |

Thanks again to you all, i am going to have to look at the possiblity that she was born with this name but the Elisabeth in salford. Maybe she was born in her fathers name but for some reason changed to her mothers maiden ame of truscott but still used her fathers first name for registering things. |

Maureen, I've just done a massive clear out on my computer so am up and running. But I am not going to continue on this one at the moment because it does need fresh eyes. This is my second attempt, having spent a few hours or more on it a few weeks ago and I am becoming as bogged down as Lynsey but I suspect there may be a cover up or something. Annie(like my own great grandmother) sounds as though she was a bit of a 'girl' so the layers have to be slowly peeled away. Suspect we should concentrate on Lancashire. All the best,Tricia |

For what it is worth I have checked Prescotts on the census and couldn't come up with anything and many other names too numerous to mention. HAPPY DAYS. |

hi Maureen, stephens certificate is typed and it says truscott, but ediths is scanned. Annie has signed it there is no cross and it is definately truscott. Her marriage certificate is definatley an edward truscott as the father and that is scanned as well. i have never thought of the prescott angle because it is so clear. |
