Alva No Albert Mallett on the database. It only covers Metropolitan policemen. If your Albert was in a Suffolk force, you should try the county records office and/or local police force. nell |

Hello Nell: Thanks for looking up Albert John Berry. He definitely called himself Station Sergeant on the 1901 Census (living Hampstead) and Police Sergeant on the 1891 Census (living Clapham). Perhaps he had ideas above his station!! I was in Kew Friday of last week on another branch of family so will have to make another trip sometime. Many thanks. Bernie |

Hi Nell, I wonder if you can find any record of JOHN PLUMMER. He was in the army in 1870 but later that decade was listed as a Police Officer. Whether thid was in the army still or not, I don't know. Many thanks for the offer. Jacky :-) |

Hi again: I should have been more specific, sorry. Albert Mallett , my g grandfather, was only born in Suffolk but lived in London and Middlesex for quite some time, likely since 1871. He raised his family there. I was told he was with the Metropolitan Police. Maybe someone has given me wrong information. Where else would I look for that info. Thanks for trying, Alva in British Columbia |

Alva The records of the Metropolitan Police are kept at Kew. I believe Kew does do searches on behalf of people who can't get there, but it costs. Read their information leaflet on the Met: www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=104 nell |
