Dear Gemma Do you have anything on William Kingston, sergeant 49th regiment, wife Ellen, step son Henry Kingston Goater. The regiment would have been in India late 1850s, early 1860s. Many thanks Maria |

Hi Gemma What a star you are and what an offer. Would appreciate a Baker look up please. William Baker b 1825 Tipton Staffordshire. Engineer (Royal Navy) although this isn't confirmed. in 1861 it states he's a Engineer Royal Navy, He did sail onboard the Bernese which sunk (written on christening record of son) His son William Henry Baker born in Bombay East Indies on 22nd May 1857 and was christened on 26 March 1859. I have the christening record, but if you could find any other information I'd be gratefull. His wife was named Sarah. Thanks again, Lou |

Hi Gemma, so sorry taking time to get back to you, had family crisis. Unfortunatley I don't think that's my family as William was only there for a short period and his son William although born there came back to England and lived his life here with his parents and siblings. Interesting to read it was your Baker line though, and sad that we are not connected. I think my William Snr had a fling out there and produced 2 sons, and brought or sent the children back to England to be brought up by his wife as her own sons. Never mind, thanks for looking, Lou |

Hi Gemma/Lou I found this old thread while trying to find William Henry Baker in India (he was an engineer) believed to have been born c. 1850-55 married Helena Bourke. Was wondering if it might be the same person? |
