Hi Zoe and Julie, I've just checked that page on 1837, no Mary Precious. The only Precious name on that page is a Sarah, married in Howden district. The page covers names Pratt to Price, so think that would cover spelling variations too. Debbie |

I don't know if you realise that you can buy the fiche (copies of the church records reduce in size to fit around 20 pages on a postcard size fiche) you can take that to your local FHC and use their viewer (which brings them back up to size so you can read it) but ask them first if you can look at your own fiche. If you know where they were and hopfully they were in the church records you will be able to view them yourself. They cost around £2.50 per fiche (well they did upto a couple of years ago. Or your local LDS can order them to be sent to their nearest centre for you. The IGI are still putting what church records they have on their site, there is also another site called Hugh Wallis batch numbers, this lets you view church records by surname only, follow the trail to the parish church you want then ask for the surname, they should have christenings and marriages, there is sometimes a bit more information on this site then on the IGI, but mostly it can be the same information. Again this is still not complete. Irene |

Hi to everyone, Just been back on GR and lots of help found, Thanks to everyone. I am not sure but I think his marriage would be before 1837 as his first son (well I think his first) was born 1839. I wrote down my fhc telephone number and I am going to phone them after easter. I also wrote down a place in canterbury where I think the records have been deposited, I shall contact them too. How did you get the film numbers for the parish? I am learning more each day thanks to all of you. I am sincerely greatful to everyone Zoe x |

Hi Zoe To find film numbers: Go to www*familysearch*org (replace stars with dots) Click on 'Search for ancestors in our vast record collection' Click on 'Family History Library catalogue' Put the place you are looking for in 'Place search' Keep clicking on the underlined blue hyperlinks until you find a box in the top right hand corner taht says 'film notes' That will give you the film number - then you have to get yourself down to the nearest LDS family history centre and order it. When it comes in look foreward to spending time reading through it.....but remember, some of the records are in poor condition, so you may still be disappointed. Original records were also copied as bishop's transcripts so there may be a second chance... Peter |
