My GGrandmother Margaret Ann Walker was born on Bell Street in 1845 (parents Wm Walker and Margaret Walker (nee McDonald). Is there any sign of them on the 1851 or 61 census? I really appreciate your time and effort folks! :-) |

The 1861 Name Index isn't throwing ANY Walker families up for Toxteth Park. I have searched for Margaret Ann b 1845 ... and have checked every family she is with ... none are with William & Margaret parents. I checked all 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18yr old possibles. The Name Index is NOT complete, so maybe you can try in the future. They are very much behind ... some indexing that Isobel did for Lancs 1861 back in December has STILL not been included. Elaine :-) |

The other person I am looking for is James Alexander Thomas b approx 1845 in Shropshire son of Charles Frederick. He married Margaret Ann Walker in June 1869. I have them in 1871 but I would love to know if James was in Liverpool in 1861. |

These are all the entries on the Name Index for James Thomas b c 1845. Thomas James 14 Prescot, St Helens 2752 100b Thomas James 14 Ulverstone, Dalton 3170 56b Thomas James 15 Ulverstone, Dalton 3170 87b Thomas James 16 Liverpool, St Thomas 2675 11a Thomas James 18 Manchester, Ancoats 2929 61a Thomas James 18 Preston, Preston 3135 137a Thomas James 21 Manchester, Ancoats 2931 110a The 16 yr old one is not with any other Thomas's ... I'll check the census for you. I have checked each one, none are with Charles Frederick ...sorry. Liverpool covers 4 full discs ... trawling Liverpool looking for him is out of the question from me I'm afraid. Thousands of pages to each Piece, and a dozen or so Pieces to each disc ! Elaine :-) I'll go and check James Thomas aged 16 on the census. |

The 16 yr old is a border with a Hastehard ??? family. He's a Railway Porter ... born in Liverpool 1861 / 2675, 11a Elaine :-) |

Sounds promising as James was a railway signalman in 1871 but everything that I have on him says that he was born in Shropshire - but I realise that they were known to tell porkies on the censuses! :-) |

Is there any sign of a Thomas McDougal - a tailor who I guess would have been born around 1800 ? You are so kind thankyou ! |

Sorry, there is only a 26 year old Thomas McDougal on the name Index. Sorry for delay, just heard that a member of GC has been rushed into hospital ... so was sending best wishes to her. Elaine :-) |

On the 1851 census in the Vauxhall area of Liverpool (looks like 63 Naylor St) there is a William Walker(35) born Hawkshead and a Margaret Walker (31) born Ulverstone with 5 children. One is called Margaret but she is 12 years old. I have saved the image. Sara |
