Charlie & Dee No Thomas Lofts. If he was in the Bury St E force, his records should be either with the local force, or in the county records office. If he was in the Met, you can look him up at Kew. nell |

Helen No Thomas York of the right period listed. This doesn't mean he wasn't a policeman, you can still get his details, but you will have to go to Kew. GR don't allow you to display e-mail addresses on message boards. nell |

Maureen If your policeman was in Liverpool he won't be in the Met. Police-orders only covers the Metropolitan Police. You would need to contact either the local police force HQ or the county records office. nell |

Hi Helen. I have found William LEE listed as a Police Constable in St Margarets Westminister on the 1861 census. I'm not familiar with the area, so not sure if this would qualify as the Met. He was back in Derbyshire in 1871. TIA Angela |
