Hi Sheila, My ggg Grandfather became captain of a passenger ship in 1868, but I'm not sure what kind of ships he sailed on before doing this. Could you possibly check for a Robert Francis Hodgson, born 1830 in Crossgate (Durham City). He sailed out of Gravesend, Kent in later life, so may be around there also. Much appreciated, Mads xxxxxx |

Hello Sheila, many thanks for your offer. Long shot this one. Looking for Thomas Richards born Ireland about 1840/1942. Although born in Ireland was living in the north east (when at home) in the 1860s. Any help would be much appreciated. Kind regards - Linda |

Shanette - I've got a John Palfreyman (b.1839, Sheffield) and an Elizah(?) Palfryman (b.c.1830, Birkenhead) - not the right dates but I guess they may be connected? Let me know if you'd like the details. Sheila |

Do you have any details on Goldsworthys or Wakehams, born in Devon, please? They were both seafaring families with several fathers and sons going to sea. |

Sandra - the CD only lists Merchant, not Royal Navy. Sue G - lots of Pierce's, but would need more info! Helen in Kent - none of the correct age I'm afraid. Jill - will email when I can with Warrey info, no Goughs. Grace - will email when I can with Darlings. Kate - no George Sanger unfortunately! Helen - no Rafters either! Edith - some Burbridges but none from Ireland or for correct age. Marilyn - no Booth from Bermuda I'm afraid. Pat GR - no Foster for correct time. I can view listings by vessel and 'Crimea' is there but lists only go to 1899! |
