I'm curious as to why they are dying with the surname Slade ...... I bet these are cousins ... or if not the actual people themselves, they will be related. ! I'm already found 3 families that interlinked several times ... the Burch's/Pine's/Pannell's & Pennell's .... It's all uncoil one day !! Cheers Rosemary ! Elaine xx

Thanks Tracy ... even more info ...I'm gonna have to sort it all ...I think every bit of info so far does belong to my tree !!! but hey ! whats new !! William & Betsey had a son William Slade Hewell ... so he obviously married Hannah ... and they had Susan ... .. so .. oh boy ! Elaine :-)

The only other thing that is nagging me .. is where on earth does 'Slade' come into it !! suppose I will bump into the name further back ! William married Betsey Pine in November 1815 .. before the first child was born ... so I'm intrigued as to why the children would go under the name 'Slade' rather than 'Hewell/Howell' ... I love this game !! Elaine :-0

I realise this thread was 10 years ago but for more information on these families see the newspaper accounts of Ansdell v Gompertz trial in Exeter March 1837.
