Laura Are you willing to try where others have failed? I would be grateful if you could locate my gt gt grandfather JOHN SMOOTHY in 1861. I have him on all the censuses afterwards. He was born Chelmsford, Essex 1812 and his wife Ann and daughter Elizabeth are in Richmond, Surrey in 1861. Ann describes herself as 'wife of butler'. I imagine he is somewhere in the Greater London area, possibly working for a family called Woodroffe. John was 'gentleman's servant' on his 1858 marriage cert, and after 1862 ran a lodging house at 24, The Green, Richmond for a while. Many thanks for your help. Nell |

Hello Laura, Could you please look in 1871 for Dennis Frost, born c1810 in Suffolk. His wife Phoebe born c1823 in Norfolk, dau. Elizabeth born 1847 in Suffolk, son George born 1850 in Suffolk, son Ambrose born 1853 in Norfolk and dau. Anna M born 1858 in Suffolk. I found them in 1861 all living at Beccles Road, Bungay, Suffolk. If you can find all or some of them it would be much appreciated. Pat. |

Hi Laura Please could you look for my ancestors Griffith (possibly spelt Griffin) Cooper and his wife Margaret on the 1861 census age 67 and 70. Griffith was born in East Dean, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. I'm not sure where Margaret was born as I've seen a couple of different places probably due to mistranscription of the Welsh place. Griffith was a coal miner. What I was hoping was that if you have the original image there I would be really grateful to see it as maybe I can decipher the Welsh place that she was born. They were living in Cinderford, East Dean. I would be really grateful to find out where she was born as this has been a mystery to me for a long time. Thanks ever so much Kath |

Thanks for those Laura. Could you also check for a Gertie Wolforeth on the 1891 and 1881. She married Solomon's son Morris in 1896. The 1901 has her birth place as Russia c1877/78 - unsure when she emigrated to England. |
