I need to organise all this info - when i tell my dad he probably wish he hadn't gone looking. He was adopted at birth and this is his natural family so it is important to him. If i find anything new i'll post here THANK YOU Karen |

Rose found that 1861 entry born in Clerkenwell, Jamaica!! On the actual page there's no Jamaica..... George Higgs abt 1835 Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England Boarder Aylesbury Buckinghamshire Frederick Mitchell abt 1845 Clerkenwell, Jamaica Son Aylesbury Buckinghamshire Joseph Mitchell abt 1818 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Head Aylesbury Buckinghamshire Mum isn't at home, but dad is recorded as Married. I wonder if this is the parents marriage? Name: ROSIER, Margaret Record Type: Marriages Quarter: December Year: 1838 District: West London County: London Middlesex Volume: 2 Page: 239 One possible spouse is Joseph Mitchell. Merry |

A couple of things that may help whilst we all wait for the return of Karen (well, I only just arrived so I've not been waiting lol!!) 1) This is the only GRO entry on Ancestry with Rosier Mitchell as part of the name: Name: Mitchell, Annie Rosier Record Type: Marriages Quarter: December Year: 1893 District: Hackney County: Greater London London Middlesex Volume: 1b Page: 955 2) Much better than the above (though not for Frederick Rosier Mitchell) is that there's a report in The Times newspaper about his fraudulent bancruptcy (sorry Karen!): March 18th 1872. Swansea Circuit. Prior to the case he was a pawnbroker and general dealer in Aberdare. He was in court for not dealing fairly with his creditors. He was found guilty. Karen. I can send you a copy of the article if you PM me with your email address...... The newspaper spells his first name without the ''K'', by the way....... Merry |

Which leads me to think this F R and his Dad in 1861: George Higgs abt 1835 Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England Boarder Aylesbury Buckinghamshire Frederick Mitchell abt 1845 Clerkenwell, Jamaica Son Aylesbury Buckinghamshire Joseph Mitchell abt 1818 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Head Aylesbury Buckinghamshire Living in the Market Sq of Aylesbury......... Joseph is a Pawnbroker and Frederick his assistant Gawd knows where the transcription of JAMAICA came from as it clearly says JAMES |
