You can search on 1837online for details of marriages, but unless you have a good idea of when the marriage took place it could be very expensive. You can do the same searches on microfishe at a large library or record office, for free. I think the birth certificate should be your first move, that way you may have an address. Kath. x |

I don't know Jess, it's been happening all night. I keep having to delete replies that go on more than once. I don't think these boards like me tonight, lol Kath. x UPDATE - this one only went on once!!! Keturhah - the marriage should be in the previous married name (should be but not always). I think perhaps if you know the marriage took place because members of the family were there, you were probably just given the wrong year. Most people remember the date, but not always the year. |

Have found the marriage between James Frederick Weightman and Hilda Blount. Again the year was different to what you thought:- Dec. qtr. 1982, Ilkeston, 6, 0814 Kath. x |

You need a large library anywhere, as long as they have a copy of the St. Catherine's index. Have found your in-law's marriage now. See reply above. Kath. x |

I'm no expert!!! You just need some credits for 1837online and a subscription to Ancestry in this game. That's all I have. Good luck, I hope it gets you started on his family. Kath. x p.s. sorry I didn't see your question about date of birth when ordering the birth certificate, until now. You don't need to put exact date of birth when ordering online, but you do have to put the year in as it is in the reference (1934). Just make sure when it asks 'Is the full GRO reference known?' that you tick 'yes'. If you leave it on 'no' then it WILL ask for date of birth. Yes, Romford is the district, not place of birth. |
