Hey Ladies I hope I am not on your hit list. Mary and Jess have both found heaps of rellies for me and it has been greatly appreciated. Trouble is I have only been on GR for three weeks and getting the gist of the boards and threads is a little confusing at first. Anyhow if I have been guilty of treading on anyone's toes I do apologise Regards.....Norman Stoney in Oz |

Lovely ladies[and gents] I just want to say that on behalf of all novices like myself at this family history thing - I truly appreciate all that you do. I've traced back 12 generations of my family on my paternal grandmothers side, and about 80% of it is down to really generous people on the site who give up their time [and sometimes money!!] to find out things I can't. Please don't let a few numpties make you give up helping others out -we can't do it without you!!! |

Surely we cant get into trouble for cutting and pasting the multiple requesters requests on this thread. Then everyone could be alerted. regards Isobel |

Can we add all the ones who put requests on here - you dont need to look far - without using the P word. I could answer one on here but Im blowed I will with the way it is worded. |

Mary - the multiple lookup requests was the main reason why I decided to take a step back from the board. It's either ignorance or bad manners that's the cause & there's no excuse for either in my book. I got so p***ed off with some of them (and their lack of information) that I just _knew_ I was going to be really rude eventually. Now I just pop in as and when (and work quietly in the background). Dont know about the other two of you- i had a very humble apology from the person that, shall we say, 'prompted' this thread. Jess |

Yes I had an apology too.Incidentally I think I must have got through to some of the 'mutiples' and been 'blacklisted' as I have had no lookup requests today. A bit bored now actually!!! Mary |

I do look-ups very occasionally if the mood takes me. A couple of months ago there was a request that looked interesting, it seemed to have been thought through before it had been posted and had what looked like sensible information to work with. I spent quite a happy hour looking at this and went back with what I found, as did a few other people, with their contributions. The reply was thanks very much, but I know all of this, someone found it the last time a put a request on, but it is not what was wanted. When I complained, someone other person (who doesn't do look-up searches) snapped that I should not be so touchy, the poor woman was only asking for another opinion...! I wonder sometimes if people think we all have different versions of Ancestry, so if I were to type in 'Fred Smith' a completely different set of results comes up to when Jess or Mary type in 'Fred Smith' Ah well, ce la vie, I suppose! |
