Find Ancestors

Hi Jackie on page 13, Happy New Year! I'm afraid the birth, marriage and death index records don't show names of fathers. Birth indexes from 1912 onwards include the maiden name of the mother, but no other parent details. Marriage records from the same year show surname of spouse but none give parent names. Death records show age at death in later years and then date of birth in much later years, but I'm not sure when these started. Sorry I couldn't help :O( Louise

Hi Richard on page 14, I can try a marriage look up for you but need a rough idea of the years to check. For now, I'll try 1857-8 for you, taking into account the birth of the son in 1859. George MILLS was a very common name and without a district to go on there would be several to try and filter, perhaps I'll start with marriages of a Fanny ASHBY as there should be less of those? Jun 1857 - Fanny ASHBY - Buckingham 3a 64b ? or 641 ? or 646 ? The above is the only Fanny marriage between 1857-8 but the district makes it unlikely I think. Hi Simon on page 14, I'm afraid I won't be able to cofirm Arthur's parents as this info isn't included in the birth reg index. I can try and find Arthur's birth reg for you so you can order his birth certificate. However, the name is very common and there are 6-8 Athur Cross birth refs on ave in each quarter. Please can you find out exactly what district his birth would have been registered in, otherwise I'm going to have to list every Arthur Cross which could take some time lol!
