As it turns out it's relatively easy for me to book a machine (in fact I was the only one there tonight!) so I'm going to start doing regular lookups. However, because of the long list of lookups any lookups posted here won't be done until week beginning 23rd Jan. When I feel I have too many lookup requests I will close this topic to new requests and post only results on it! Don't forget the results will be posted here! |

Hi Sarah Many thanks for that. Wonder if you can look up these marriages please. I'm after any witnesses names and any additional info ('of this parish' or whatever) of bride & groom. Alwinton 31 Jul 1801 Thomas Common and Ann (or Christianna) Richardson (She is being particularly elusive to track down) 13 Feb 1723/24 Cuthbert Armorer & Isabel Handasyde Elsdon (I think the church is St Cuthberts) I think the Armorers were all from Dunns, Elsdon, so its the other half I'm really interested in. 9 Jul 1747 William Ord & Elioner Arkle 30 Dec 1756 John Arkle & Isabel (or Isabella) Armorer 15 June 1777 Thomas Armorer & Elizabeth Watson 28 July 1803 William Armorer & Jane Hedley of Redpath 10 Jan 1830 John Common & Jane Armorer 22 Aug 1829 Alexander Hall & Eliza (or Elizabeth) Armorer 22 Jun 1822 George Green & Alice Armorer [these last 3 Armorer girls are sisters – I know there are others] I think these will do for now! hope this is OK, I know its a formidable list but hopefully the Elsdon ones will all be on the same film. Regards Vicky |

Hello Sarah Not sure if you have access to Gateshead ,probably not If so could you please look up my Great grandfather BENJAMIN SIBBALD. I have his death cert 1st April 1916 aged 33 in Castle ward Northumberland. So put his birth 1882 or 1883 . I have searched all the GRO and found no registration for him but his sister and brother are registered. I have his brothers birth certificate CHARLES WILLIAM SIBBALD 20th OCT 1879 and his sister was born after him and registered MARY JANE SIBBALD 1884 so dont know why Benjamin was unregistered. Parents were Robert Sibbald and Elizabeth (nee Wheatley late mckenzie) can find no marriage for Robert and Elizabeth either so even searched her 2 other names. Deborah |

Hi Sarah, thanks for your kind offer. Could you please look up any information about Robert Ramage and his wife, Ann Grice and their daughter Mary? Robert and Ann were married on 18 Jan.1824 at Newcastle St. John. And Mary was born around 1827, Newcastle Upon Tyne. I am trying to find out what parents' names of Robert Ramage and Ann Grice. They would born around 1790s. And when did they die? I only know that Robert Ramage was a marine. Perhaps there might have 1841 census of them? Thanks for your time. Regards, Steven. |

Sarah Thanks for your very kind offer. Are you able to access registers for Shilbottle in Northumberland? I am looking for the baptism of Henry Jackson, born about 1893 in Shilbottle. His father was called James. I don't know what denomination he was, but I'm hoping that Shilbottle is a small enough village to make records easy to find! Many thanks in advance. Regards Helen |

Given my lack of success with this week's lookup requests I'm going to stop taking requests for week beginning 23rd Jan. May re-open if things seem to pick up, but otherwise will have to wait until I start taking requests for week beginning 30th Jan. |

Ok ladies and gents heres the first set of results! So scroll down and look for your name. If I've not mentioned you, don't worry, I'm booked i tomorrow evening for a hour again and will try and go again later in the week. Susan Rogers - I've tried Heaton parish as I thought 6th avenue might land within there, but no look. I'm going to try Gosforth next. If that fails I might ask for a 1901 census address lookup for that street and see what parish ir reckons its in! Deborah Hicks - Sorry but Gateshead isn't covered! I think you need Durham perhaps? Not sure! Anne-Marie Bainbridge - I've checked the lists for Non-conformist registers they hold and Wallsend St Columbus RC church is not listed. I suspect this means that the church hasn't allowed its registers to be filmed :( I didn't get the chance to look at the CofE registers for Wallsend tonight but I'll try tomorrow. Elaine Harris - I'm not sure what you want! What exactly do you want me to look up? If you can be a bit more precise e.g. I'd like you to look up the baptism of William Spears c 1895 in Chevington Drift, then I'll be able to do some lookups. If you know what parish they're likely to be in that would also help, but don't worry if you don't know it. |

Vicky - I've started doing your lookups. Just one more film to go (which covers the 1820/1830 marriages in Elsdon) and thats it. The starnge thing about both parishes is that they have a list of marriages (not complete but only groom, bride and date given) and then in another book a fuller account of the marriage. Very odd! Anyhow.. Alwinton St Michael & All Angels? February 13th 1724 Cuthbert Armorer, Elsdon Parish Isabella Handafids, Harehaugh (this following one I found when I was trying to find Thomas Common & Ann Richardson's marriage. It wasn't listed here but was listed in the full accounts later!) 5th June 1804 Thomas Armorer & Eleanor Readhead Hollystone/Hallystone Chapelry July 31st 1801 Thomas Common of Harbottle in the Chapelry of Hallystone and Ann Richardson of Biddlestone in this parish were by Licence married together by me Thomas Bland curate July 31st 1801. This marriage was solemnised by us Thomas Common and Ann Richardson now Common in the presence of us witnesses Mary Bland, Thomas Thompston (all names signed, presumably by themselves!) Thomas Armorer of (Overacres?) in the parish of Elsdon and Eleanor Readhead of (Chaperton?) in this parish were by Licence married together this fifth day of June 1804 by me Thomas Bland vcr. This marriage was solemnised by us Thomas Armorer and Eleanor Redhead nor Armorer in the presence of us witnesses (H. Mole Jon Forster?), Ann Redhead, William Redhead, John (Aokber?) |

Susan - I've searched both churches at Gosforth, Wallsend St Peter and Fenham. What were you hoping to get from the baptism? I don't think it will give you anymore than the birth certificate is likely to. Vicky - disaster! Turns out they don't have marriages for the years 1820 to 1837 on film! I think they do have the Banns so I'll look those up. They might give you some more information. Steven De Grussa - I've been unable to find the 1841 census for Newcastle so far. I'm going to ask if they hold it tomorrow (they don't hold the Newcastle census returns for 1891 and 1901 so there is a possibility they might not have it). |

Anne-Marie Bainbridge - I've had a little more success with your CofE lot but only up until 1918. I'm not sure where they go after that! Anyway, here are the baptisms. Born January 7th Baptised February 15th 1908 Jane Alice and Thomas William, parents Joseph and Mary Rebekah Addle, residence 15 Charlotte Street, Father's occupation = Labourer Born September (7/17th?) Baptised 15th October 1912 Mary Hannah, parents Joseph and Mary Addle, residence 23 Richardson Street, Father's occupation = Chemical worker This following entry has been partially blacked out. I'm tempted to think it's transference of ink from a baptism in the same place on the opposite page where parts have been blanked out because the child was adopted. It sort of reads as follows though, Born December 2nd 1913 Baptised January 24th 1914 John (?), parents Joseph and Mary Rebecca Addle, residence = 23 (Richardson Street I think!), Father's occupation = Labourer Born 20th June Baptised 11th July 1916 Irene, parents Joseph and Mary Rebecca Addle, Residence = 23 Richardson Street, Father's occupation = Soldier Royal Engineers Born 13th September Baptised 5th October 1918 Josephine, parents Joseph and Mary Rebecca Addle, Residence = 23 Richardson Street, Father's occupation = Soldier, civil employment bricklayer |

Helen in Berkshire - Henry didn't turn up in Shilbottle or Lesbury parish records and I searched about 5 years either side of 1893. There are a few other parish records to try though. Have you found him in 1901? Might help narrow down the search. Lynne Coulson - They have Newburn St Michael's and All Angel's parish records for baptisms up to March 1921, marriages up to 1909 and burials up to June 1910. |
