ANNIE SINGLETON: PORTSEA; Checked All saints church bpts 1857-1862. No records of any Binmores. No burial registers for All Saints held at HRO. Started to check St Mary's Portsea bpts and found a bpt No 793. 23 November 1856. The childs name was illegible, looked something like Tidmir? born to Thomas and Emma Binmore, living at Chapel Row? Thomas was a steward. The original registers are held at Portsmouth records office/Library so they may be able to transcribe for you. Now that I have found a Binmore bpt in that church I will look for more on my next visit along with St John's Portsea. Will be in touch soon. Regards Lorraine. |

Dear Lorraine: Is it utterly too late to make a request for your kindly offered services? All my family seem to come from Hampshire and I would be much obliged if you are still able to help. I am looking for the parents of George Albert Grimes, he was born in India in 1881, and married Bessie Louise Cole but I'm afraid I'm not sure when, at a guess, perhaps between 1898 and 1915? Either that or his birth certificates should help find his parents. All I know about his parents are that his father is William Grimes and his mother was 'Kate'. I would love to know more about his father. I know this is probably far too late, but I thought it was worth a try. If you think this request is far too time-consuming or difficult then please don't feel obliged to carry through, it was very generous of you to offer in the first place and I won't be offended. Thanks very much for your time =) Elín K. Grimes |

SUE IN THE MIDLANDS: There was no record of a christening for William Pannell in Buriton/Weston between 1780-1795. Checked Buriton/Weston marriages 1813-1837, no record for a marriage of William Pannell and Jane? Perhaps they married in her home parish? There was a record of a marriage for George Pannell of this parish to Jane Hawkins widow of this parish. Church Banns. 7 April 1820. Marriage No 29. Witnesses were Robert Ford and Charlotte Page. Buriton bpts found were: No 285 13/05/1827 Elizabeth d/o George & Jane Pannell No 307 29/06/1828 david s/o George & Jane Pannell No 343 26/09/1830 Joseph s/o George & Jane Pannell No 348 13/02/1831 Joseph s/o William & Jane Pannell/ Weston No 379 29/07/1832 James s/o George & Jane Pannell No 403 29/12/1833 Anne d/o George & Jane Pannell No 412 01/06/1834 Eliza d/o William & Jane Pannell/Weston No 432 15/03/1835 William s/o George & Jane Pannell no 455 01/05/1836 Harriet d/o William & Jane Pannell/Weston No 469 01/01/1837 Thomas s/o George & Jane Pannell No 585 08/03/1841 George s/o William & Jane Pannell/Weston No 654 07/06/1844 James s/o William & Jane Pannell/Weston No 726 06/06/1847 thomas s/o William & Jane Pannell/Weston This is all I could find which makes me wonder if william was bpt elsewhere or are George and William one and the same person? I will leave this one for you to unravel. Best wishes Lorraine. |
