Could you please look up 'phthisis pulmonatis' which I presume is TB? Also, an occupation called 'printfield ......' - something I can't read. What is your source? Many thanks, Heather

Hi Heather Yes phthisis is pulmonary tuberculosis. The occupation of Printfield is not listed the closest is a printer. The sources i am using are The complete A - Z guide to early occupations and causes of death and old medical terms. Sorry to not be of more help with your occupation. cathy

hi there, Thanks for the offer and any light you can shed would be appreciated. This was a toddler (aged 1 yr 11 mths) who died in 1871 and is as best I can read the writing Tabes Ineveutusied - certified Thankyou 'mum'

Hi Mum The only Tabes listed are : Tabes Dorsalis - Syphilus of the spinal cord (unlikely i would have thought) Tabes Mesenterica - Tuberculosis of lymph glands inside the abdomen Sorry to not be more help Cathy

Hi Hannah A master cooper is not defined but a cooper - A person who made and repaired wooden barrels and casks So maybe he was very good at his job hence he was a master. A brass founder - A person who casts brass Hope this helps Cathy

Hi Gerry A bricksetter as such is not listed only a Brickburner - a brickmaker who used a kiln to make bricks and a Brickman - a bricklayer I would have though a bricksetter was along the same lines as a bricklayer Hope this helps Cathy
