Pen, Could you please look for a Robert Buchanan on the 1841 and 1851 census for Scotland and England. If this is too much work could you please just look on the Scottish entries. Shown on the 1861 census living at High Friar Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, occupation Lithographic writer ( surname transcibed on Ancestry as Buckanard). I have also found him on the 1871-1901 census living in Hackney, Middlesex, occupation Lithographic artist. On his marriage certificate Oct 1861 he is shown aged 39 living at High Friar Street. Hi Penelope, thanks so much for your kind offer. I would like to confirm the birthplace of an ancestor. You'll find her in the 1851 census and 1861 census in Alston, Cumberland. Her married name was Jane Hutchinson. Date of birth: c1818 Husband: Thomas Hutchinson Children born before 1851: William; Thomas; Anne; Hannah; Jane; Margaret; Jemima Children born after 1851: Eliza; Mary; and Edelbert. I'm sure I discovered somewhere along the line that she was born in Simonburn, Northumberland, but someone else has told me that the 1851 & 1861 entries dispute this. Can you please check for me?
