Find Ancestors

I am looking for 1851 Census for Sarah Elizabeth & James Mann James b1822 Hastings Sarah b 1826 Hastings. I have the 1861 Census. Also upon checking I have found the 1881 Census for son James and wife Elizabeth Ann Mann. James b1847 Hastings and Elizabeth b1845 Portsmouth Hampshire. I have checked on Ancestry and found them for 1891/1901 but can't access, They were married in 1867. Any help would be appreciated. Julia

Hi Scarlet, Charlotte and Amelia are sisters, their parents are James and Sarah Miles born Sussex. I have the 1841 Census for them which I hope is the correct one. I know for a fact that Charlotte Miles married Richard Amon as I have their daughter Mary Ann's birth certificate, her father was a seaman and they lived at 2 Eanswith Terrace, Folkestone in 1863. does that help. I suppose the only thing is could there be a problem with the 1841 Census, what do you think! Julia

Hi Scarlet, I am a bit confused at the moment, I have had a quick read but not sure what it means. On my 1841 Census of the miles family I have an Amelia Miles so maybe she died that is why I got muddled up. On 1851 Census it says that Amelia's husband died. Do you think she then married Thomas Tiltman in 1853. Look I have to go now but what do you think about all of this. Please could you explain it at the moment my head is just not working. my assumption is that Amelia MILES married Mr Eggleton ( cant see it at the moment tho'), Mr Eggleton died, then she married again to Mr T. Amelia MILES married James EGGLETON in 1847. He died in 1850 (she's a widow at home with her parents in 1851.) Then she marries Thomas Tittman/Tiltman in 1853. Ozi.

I agree Ozi, but in the only census i can see him at home -1871- he's called JAMES! ( or am i ssuming he's her husband - i'll check it)

Update , no looking at the image, James J is a son..age 5 with a stroke at he end that looks like a 7... Ennumerated as son.No husband at home - she's a mariners wife

1871 image also looks litke Tiltman. I think Tiltman may be the correct name, rather than the other variants. Ozi.
