EDIT: BRICE (below) HAS NOW BEEN FOUND IN 1921. HOWEVER, THE DEATH OF HIS FATHER WALTER IS STILL A MYSTERY.
********************************************************** Please, will someone post the details for this record in 1921 ?:
B Sabin — — St Giles in the Fields & St George Bloomsbury St Giles London, Middlesex
He's with 69 other people, in what must be a hostel or home of some sort.
I'm presuming this is Brice Wiggins Walter Sabin. On the face of it, poor Brice didn't have much of a life.
Born 1886 in Banbury RD, baptised 1888 in Warkworth, Northants. 1891: he's a boarder with another family, in Acomb, York.. His father had either died or abandoned Brice and his mother before 1891. His mother died in 1899, and Brice (aged 13) was the informant, present at her death of heart disease.
1901 and 1911 he's in a boys' home in Stepney. 1911 says it's a Barnardo's Home. He died in 1927 and is buried in Chingford Mount Cemetery.
*******************************************************
Also, perhaps someone can find the death (or other record) of his father, Walter Sabin 1851. I don't see Walter, or his death, after 1888.
I have the pre-marriage history of both Walter and his wife, so please don't bother with that.

In 1881 they're living together before marriage:

Jane Sabin 26 Wife Elijah Hall 26 Lodger
Their son Brice was born in 1886. In 1888 a Walter Sabin (a miller) was sentenced to 3 weeks with hard labour , for stealing a manure fork at Hook Norton, Oxon. "My" Walter's father William was a miller, which makes me think this is the right man. Also, several of his siblings lived in the Hook Norton/Sibford area..
I can't find any definite trace of him after that.
In 1891 Jane is calling herself a widow, and working as a cook in Holgate, York - hence the reason for Brice being a boarder in York.. She died in 1899, in Portsea. Brice was the informant, and was present at her death. The death cert says "Widow of Walter Sabin, miller's labourer."
Thanks! I'll look back later.

Below the above record is a Mrs Sabin
As with the above, no age, no birthplace, no occupation
Also, I'm far from convinced that the initial is actually 'B'
Sorry about the jumbled info - it's FMP's way of showing it
I'll send you the image - for your evaluation

Hmmm.
Yes, it definitely not informative. The initial doesn't look anything like a B. In fact, I can't tell what it is.
No ages, which doesn't help at all. IF that's Brice, there's no sign of him having married - though I suppose a partner could just be calling herself Mrs.
Thanks anyway, ErikaH!

Actually, this looks like a much better possibility in1921:
B W W S 1886 Not Known Ilford Romford Essex
Would you mind having a look at that, please, ErikaH?
As it's only initials, I suppose it must be an institution of some sort, so there may not be much more info - but the initials and YOB are correct, and Brice's death was registered in Romford.

That one is in Claybury Mental Hospital, Woodford Bridge

Thanks.
That's definitely Brice.
I've just discovered that a tree on Ancestry has an image of the cemetery's burial record, which calls him Bruce, but gives his address as Claybury Mental Hospital.
Poor Brice!
|
I noticed that his death registration was as Bruce.
Not a happy life, poor man.
