Just looking at possible deaths for John, and will risk a cert or two. Such a bonus that the GRO death index now gives ages so at least you can eliminate some and that they are now cheaper.

Lydia died 1880.
John remarried quickly, on May 15th 1880, to Elizabeth Ann Anspach.
John's father stated as John McDonald, tailor. It doesn't say if he's deceased.
John, Elizabeth, and John's son Henry, are on 1881 census.
Elizabeth is a widow by 1901.

I think I've established the likely death for the right John McDonald, if he is the one in Brompton cemetery records ( daugter Ann buried there) died 1862 address given as the Royal Hosp' which ties in with the 1841 for age and being a pensioner . I think I'll buy that cert and see if there is anything that helps on it.

1861 for the chap whose 1851 I posted a while ago......and whose death I would think is likely to be the one in 1862

And therefore that man is probably the father of Elizabeth and Henrietta, as they were baptised in Chelsea, and their father was a pensioner.

But it's confusing, as you know!
The 1841 death of Janet of White Hart Court is in Chelsea, with informant Elizabeth - but her husband John is a weaver.

The two census records declare him to be Married,,,,,,,,,,,,,

1851 census for Elizabeth (Bridge) shows her birth to have been c1827 in Chelsea

A bit ‘out’ when looking at the baptism - unless that one died, and a later child was born

Buried in Brompton cemetery

The John McDonald buried in Brompton Cemetery is in a common grave, buried 10th January and aged 73, so probably not the man on the 1851 and 1861 censuses

However, I can't see a death registration for anyone of the name aged 73 in JFM 1862, so the age on the burial record may be an error.

Just to recap a bit several years ago I found a marriage for an Ann McD (sister to Henrietta??) to Thomas Fansey in 1835 and a child who died 1836, but I couldn't find any further trace in that name.

However ( there always a however lol) finding the name Enniss has led me back to searching and Thomas Enniss is "Alias Thomas Fansey" on Navy allotment declarations, wife Ann Ennis, same address as the 1851 (Morbys Yard) and on.

Getting there, I hope, or maybe not :-S

Another poser, if Ann is the correct one, bn 1819 baptised 1820, then why would the parents have waited till 1822 to baptise Henrietta ?

Not helped by the fact that John MacDonald is one of the most common names.

When I worked in the records dept of a Scottish hospital, we had more casenotes for patients named John MacDonald/McDonald than for any other name.
