NO.....he almost certainly didn't 'adjust' his age. If he was over 21, which he clearly was, the record will say 'FULL'.......the transcribers automatically record that as '21', as they have to put a numerical value.

He wasn't even '21' when he married for the first time...................he was 29/30


Bear that in mind when researching................


You stated in your OP that he was born in 1768........................!

Just idling through this, and would like to comment on the post about 'captinfold'.

There is a Castleton near Rochdale, on the Heywood side. And I see the girl was buried at St Luke's Church, which is in the centre of Heywood, about a mile from Captain Fold.
