I am trying to trace on behalf of extended family any surviving relatives of the above gentleman possibly known as Byron. Dates unknown but he farmed at Silverwells Farm, Arbroath, Angus, Scotland about 1940/1950 before moving to Guthrie near Forfar late 1950/60. Contact with the Murray and Horsbrough family was lost many years ago. Byron married Joan Linton in the 1950’s. I am hoping somebody can help. Thank you. Fiona Davie.

Start by checking whether anyone has his name in a GR tree.......look at 'search all member trees'
Otherwise, only careful research will provide answers

Use Scotland's People site to find out his year of birth and RD that he was born in - 1924 Broughty Ferry.
You need to register but a basic search is free. You buy credits to look at certificates if over 100 years ago for births, 75 for marriages and 50 for deaths, otherwise you have to buy - through the site
You would have to order the certificate as the birth is just under 100 years ago.
SP doesn't give mmn at birth so you can't pick up siblings without buying other possible certificates. There are no other births with surname Dudgeon in the same RD as him.
The marriage in 1952 was in the Arbroath and St Vigeans RD and doesn't show Joan's surname as Linton.
His death shows in 1975 in Oban RD aged 51 and Joan's in 2019 also in Oban aged 90.
One birth post 1952 with surname Dudgeon in the Arbroath RD but if they moved outside of that region there could be others
Looks like the son also died in the same year he was born

As the OP mentions a variant of the name Horsburgh, she obviously knows quite a lot about the family

I wonder if this man is related?
Middle name Byron, born not far from Guthrie and/or Arbroath, and currently lives in Oban, where Alexander and Joan died.
Might even be a son, going by age.

Google his name for many results, and contact details.

Surely the woman posted above in 1921 census is the mother of the woman who married Dudgeon?
