Once you have found the register references on freebmd you can apply to the GRO for certificates. A death certificate is often the only way to get the actual date of death. |

Unfortunately Jack and John Taylor are very common names, and he could have moved to anywhere when he left the Industrial School, assuming that's him in 1921. |

John often becomes Jack, but unusual the other way round. Birth registered as Jack. |

Doesn’t change the fact that he was registered as Jack. |

Industrial schools usually trained their pupils to work in specific areas and in this case could well be farming. |

The person has a John Taylor in their tree. They also have a Charles Edward Taylor in their tree that is Jack/John's half brother that I am looking for the same missing information. |

Jack's mother passed away and his father married Thirza Elizabeth Howell. However, I have never found the date and place of that married. However, when Thirza died she had the surname Taylor and the informant was her husband and it said she was his wife. From 1921 I have not found a trace of Jack Taylor but Taylor and names like Jack and John are very common. |

‘Saying’ she was his wife doesn’t mean she actually was |

As a matter of interest, the DoB on her death reg isn’t accurate. Her birth was registered OND 1887 |

That right Jack's step mother Thirza had been married before to a William Henry Goodwin. I have looked up this both in the surames Howell and Goodwin. The other interesting things is that I have never traced the birth and death of William Henry Goodwin which might suggest that she was still married to him when she met Joseph John Taylor. |
