Hi folks, This is my first attempt at using the Community Boards and I am overwhelmed by the response. A Bernice Flowers at GR helped me get started back in 2007 and I have been 'dabbling" on and of since. Now aged 84 and the sole carer for my wife, who suffers with Dementia leaves me with small opportunities for research. |

I am comfortable with my line thru Henry Arthur 1828 - 1897 and married to Amelia Hitchman 1830 - 1885 and John Bedley Arthur 1798 - 1885 and married to Sarah Keen 1801 - |

I don’t know what GD means, but experts believe that a match of less than around 25-30 centimorgans or less is too unreliable. |

I've had a look at some of the trees on Ancestry, many of them attribute a middle initial "J", which does not appear on the 1738 baptismal record - so that would raise some suspicions. |

The middle name Bedley is only mentioned twice. Once by Michael in the early hours of this morning and me later. |

John Bedley Arter died in 1876 in Worcestershire, and did NOT marry Sarah Keen. |

Such a shame that Michael thinks this is ‘answered’ as he has entirely the wrong JOHN Arthur for Sarah Keen’s husband, and hasn’t acknowledged that PHILIP is NOT his ancestor |

Thank you al so much for the efforts that you have made on my behalf. There is so much to digest and a few corrections that I need to make. |

To try to contact someone else with a shared name, go to ‘search’ at the top right. From the dropdown, select ‘search all member trees’. Enter the ancestor’s name and birth year (if known) and when you find the relevant one, click on ‘find out more’ against the tree owner’s name. Send a message and hope that the person is able/willing to reply |

As is obvious, I do not get the opportunity to spend time on my family tree and apologise for not responding. I had hoped to be in a retirement apartment by now which would provide time for my tree and my wife would benefit from their activities. However, the sale of our home first listed in October '23 is proving difficult in these times of recession. |
