Off-piste - but I'm curious about Miss Champkins -

" . . . affectionate remembrance of Wallace George Albone, who died May 13th, 1919, Doncaster. Rest Until we meet again. From Miss Champkins, 28, Beckett Rd., Doncaster."
Published: Friday 14 May 1920
Newspaper: Biggleswade Chronicle

Arthur William Champkins
in the West Yorkshire, England, Electoral Registers, 1840-1962
Name: Arthur William Champkins [ and Emily Champkins ]
Year: 1920
Country: England
County: West Yorkshire
Parliamentary Division: Doncaster
Place of Abode: 28 [Beckett Road ] <<<<<<<<<<<
Reference Number: Doncaster

Arthur & Emily are also at that address in 1921-23.

In 1921 census :
Arthur William 1885, Emily 1884, Endna [Edna] 1907, Phyllis 1909, Iris 1913, and Joseph William 1912.

Arthur & Emily married in 1906, and none of their daughters are old enough to have been engaged by 1919.

So Miss Champkins must be some other relative.
I think the most likely is Arthur's sister Doris (1902), who is with their parents William 1856 and Jemima 1860 in Doncaster in 1921 census.

They were are 88 Furnivall Road for many years, including 1920-21, per ERs.
Doris could have been with Arthur & Emily in 1920, as she would have been too young to appear on the ER.

CHAMPKINS, DORIS mmn WOODWARD
GRO Reference: 1902 M Quarter in DONCASTER Volume 09C Page 904

Doris married in 1924.

Marriages Mar 1924 [99%)
Champkins  Doris  Ross  Doncaster  9c 1118
Ross  George  Champkins  Doncaster  9c 1118

George Ross died in 1945, and Doris remarried in 1947:

Champkins  Doris  Ross  Doncaster  9c 1118
Ross  George  Champkins  Doncaster  9c 1118

She had no children. She died in 1980.

If not Doris, then another possibility (from an age point of view, although there are other older sisters) is another sister Florence May :

CHAMPKINS, FLORENCE MAY mmn WOODWARD
GRO Reference: 1897 S Quarter in SOUTHWELL NOTTS Volume 07B Page 435

The report of Wallace's funeral mentions "sorrowing May".

Marriages Sep 1928   (>99%)
CHAMPKINS  Florence M  Wood  N.Bierley  9b 43
Wood  Charles  Champkins  N.Bierley  9b 43

In 1939 Florence and Charles are in Bradford, with two closed records, one of whom is presumably their daughter born in 1931.
Florence May died in 1979 in Dewsbury.

Of course, the Miss Champkins who submitted the "In Memoriam" notice may not be the former fiancee, but could be one of her sisters.
