I would have thought the marriage in Sutton Coldfield to be a good bet.

If you are putting the middle name or initial into your search you won’t get any results. However they are shown in the results.

He married to Elsie M Liddincton from Sutton Coldfield?

Without other evidence it can’t be proved. You either have to know yourself that he was married to an Elsie - but to really prove it you need to buy the marriage certificate.

The son mentioned in the obituary is presumably referred to by his middle name (or perhaps shortened version of middle name).

Find his birth reg on FreeBMD, by searching for Perkins births with mother's surname Liddington.

I don't know who Sophie is.

Sophie could be Michael J Perkins's wife? I presume Maurice and Elsie had a only son Michael J born in 1962 in Sutton Coldfield

I'd thought of that, but I don't see a likely marriage - at least not in England, Wales, or Scotland..

Doreen - look up Michael on the 192 website. If he has a public entry on the Electoral Roll you may find who he is/was living with.

Go back through all the posts from helpers to see where they have been looking - it might help you you find p,aces to look yourself.

There's nobody listed with Maurice on the ER on GR.

Searching for Michael (or Michael J) Perkins 1962 on the ERs brings up 279 results, but none of them is with a Sophie.
There's a John Perkins listed with a Sophie (surname not Perkins, and no sign of a subsequent marriage) , living in Surrey in 2002-3 - but no Jon Perkins.
In any case, we have no idea where he lives/lived.

There's no ER entry for a Sophie Perkins with a John, Jon, or Michael - at least not with one with the right middle initials.
There's a Henriette S Perkins with a Michael Perkins, but on further investigation, the S does not stand for Sophie.

Sophie could be a partner rather than a wife, in which case of course there will be no marriage record.
