So we now have a Harry!! Thank you Maddie.

I was just looking for a death for Edith Ann Cooper nee Ingram, but there are so many possibilities. Hopefully William's death certificate will state the informant and if he was widowed or not in 1913.

I agree, I think I will order it.

ArgyllGran Report 7 Aug 2022 14:01

The 1913 death in Rugby, posted by ErikaH, is by far the most likely record for William James after 1911.

Deborah

Deborah Report 7 Aug 2022 13:49

Thank you ArgyllGran, I got over zealous when I saw the name William James Cooper.

I am beginning to wonder if he remarried, because I did purchase a 1921 census for a William James Cooper 49, (correct age) wife Harriet, 49, daughter Ethel M, 25, son Harold W, 20. Address 119 Osler Road, Ladywood.

William's occupation, Lamplighter.

Edith's baptism, just for the record;

Edith Ann Ingram
in the Warwickshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, 1813-1910
Name: Edith Ann Ingram
Baptism Date: 21 Jun 1874
Baptism Place: Newbold on Avon, Warwickshire, England
Parish: Newbold on Avon
Father: William Ingram - railway servant
Mother: Mary Ingram

Can't see her after 1901.
William James is still listed as married in 1911.

Deborah

Deborah Report 7 Aug 2022 12:48

I did see the 1911 census you posted ArgyllGran, and wondered about it.

Deborah

Deborah Report 7 Aug 2022 12:46

So possibly they where known as James and Annie (re the 1901 census)

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 7 Aug 2022 12:43

In 1901, at Evelyn May's baptism, William James's occupation is "engineer's labourer", which fits with the 1911 census.

Deborah

Deborah Report 7 Aug 2022 12:39

I have just updated my own tree on Ancestry to read Evelyn May.

Have amended Frank to 1906, I got the date originally from his Canadian marriage record, which stated he was 25 in 1932.

Annoyingly, Ancestry doesn't transcribe whole families together for the 1901 census for some strange reason.

However, with James (general labourer) are listed:
Annie, wife, 27, Newbold.
James, son, 4, Newbold
George, son, 1, Newbold
