At first I wondered (grasping at straws) if this could be her marriage, if she had used her stepfather's name for some strange reason - but Ancestry thinks it's her mother marrying for the third time:

Emma J Terry
in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1916-2005
Name: Emma J Terry
Registration Date: Jul 1922[Aug 1922] [Sep 1922]
Registration Quarter: Jul-Aug-Sep
Registration District: Strood
Inferred County: Kent
Spouse: Edward Webb
Volume Number: 2a
Page Number: 1845

A tree on Ancestry [ EDIT: it's your friend Kevin's tree ] has the image of the 1921 census for Emma Terry and household.

Emma Terry
Ivy Terry
William Mills
Stephen Jackman, 82 (Emma senior's father)
Emma Lovejoy
Edward Lovejoy
Jane Mathews, 18, adopted niece
Clara Mathews, 12, adopted niece

and six boarders, Jessie Squires 15, Walter Rolfe 40, Henry Payne 45, George E Lacey 28, Arthur Morris 26, and Herbert Botten 36.

William Mills later married Jane M A Matthews, born 18 March 1903 per 1939 Register, who was an "adopted niece" in 1921.

However, none of this helps find Emma Lovejoy after 1921.

Added:
Kevin added the census to his Ancestry tree on 6th July.
Kevin also started a GR thread (two, in fact) in Sept 2006, hoping for info about Emma after her son's birth, but received no replies, and is no longer a GR member.

Thank you AG, been out for the day so only just picked up post. Will look on Kevin’s post, I did say to him look on the 1921 for the husband of Emma Jane Lovejoy. because not with her in 1921.. Will look up the Webb family too, if think Emma Jane Terry married Edward Webb. Actually very interesting because my next door but one is a Webb, a big River Thames tug men, in fact my skipper in 1955 was a Ben Webb. Lots of watermen in the Gravesend area. Can probe further on the Webb’s. Wouldn’t be surprised if the lodgers in Pier Road in 1921 could be water men or even cement I workers , have a number of cement works in our area too

The lodgers in 1921 aren't watermen. Mostly they're in the paper/printing industry.

Herbert Botten (widower) is a paper maker, working for Imperial Paper Mills, Gravesend.
Arthur Morris (single) is a stereotyper, with Amalgamated Press Printers, Gravesend.
George E Lacey(single) is a fitter and turner with Henleys, Northfleet.
Walter Rolph (married) is a printers' machinist with Amalgamated Press.
Jessie Squires (single) is a book folder with Amalgamated Press.
Henry Payne (married) is a printers' machine minder with Amalgamated Press.

I had wondered if maybe one of the men later cohabited with Emma Lovejoy - but no such luck.

Walter died 1934 in Romford, Essex.
Arthur married Rose Holt in 1921, and died in Dartford in 1974.
George married Lydia Keech in 1922, and died in Dartford in 1973.
Henry was still married to Martha in 1939, living in St Albans, and died there in 1956.
Herbert had married Charlotte / Lottie Penfold in 1910 in Tonbridge. Lottie died in 1919, and in 1939 he was living with Priscilla Queenie Skinner, who was calling herself Botten although not his wife.

Thank you AG. I had forgotten about the Paper /Printing industry in this area of Kent along with 4 cement works, a thriving area, sadly all gone now, Even the River Thames is quiet these days. Very interesting what you found about the lodgers . Kevin informed me he has done a DNA test, so hoping to get some results back in finding Emma Lovejoy. She has completely baffled him, he was told she could have gone to Canada, he couldn’t find anything in Emigration ,like you couldn’t . I will let you know if he is contacted. Keep safe in the oncoming days with the heat we are expecting. Thay have us down for 40 degrees here in North Kent.

Far too hot, John!

Approx 26-28C forecast for here, which is more than hot enough for me.
