Does anyone have access to the 1921 Census please and if so could they look up Ethel May Cooper - nee Chiswell born Birmingham 1889 and William Charles Cooper born c1873, believed to have been born in B'ham also. It may be a Bristol address. Many thanks if someone can help.

I'm trying to help a friend sort her relative out as she wasn't sure if Cooper and Chiswell were married at the time they were living in Bristol because they were apparently living in Williams first wifes house. The 1921 birth was registered in King’s Norton - the two later ones in Shipston (on Stour)

I’ve done a quick search of the 1921, and I can’t see Ethel, William or the child registered 1921 (John)

Not the right one, unfortunately.

That Ethel Cooper was a spinster, aged 35, and her father was Charles Cooper.

Ethel May's father was named William.

What was the name of William’s first wife? When did she die?

Thank you for trying to help, unfortunately my friend doesn’t know the first wife’s name or the death year for William as he walked out of the house one day and didn’t return leaving Ethel and the youngsters

Maybe he didn't marry Ethel afterall,, Its seems such a popular name that its difficult to find the correct people, I'm grateful for everyones help. Not sure what happened to his first wife if his second family were allowed to live in her house and remain there even after William had walked out on Ethel. She left the house in the 1950's. This might be an unresolved story. But thank you to all who have searched for the family and Shirley-I,m getting the hang of it for looking at 1921. I think John W. Cooper died 1922 .. I think I'll stop looking - at least for the time being as William became a salesman/rep so he could have other 'wives' and possible offspring elsewhere ;-) THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR SEARCHING.
