I assume it's her maiden name. If she's "about 90" now, she must have been born c1932-ish, and would only have been approx 7 in 1939.

Not even any Bancroft girls called Helen, or some other name similar to Nellie.

Maybe Nellie was a "pet" name, and her real name was something completely different.

just fiund out the daughter was not born in 1952 that was the year she was adopted she was born 1946 name of eva bancroft birth registered in march quart 1957 Births Mar 1947 (>99%)

So, if the mother was allegedly born in 1932, she'd have been no more than 14 when she conceived
