Birth year not on English death certs before 1969..........only age at death

I have ordered this certificate today this should go a long way in finding details for Thomas Nelson.

Or registrar error, as the age is "correct" if calculated by subtracting 1908 from 1943, without paying attention to the month of birth.

Perhaps the registrar asked "When was she born?" instead of "How old was she?"

The Newcastle death is ‘out’ as regards to age as I said earlier, but that could be due to a lack of knowledge on the part of the informant

As Mary died between 1939 and 1954, there are only two possibilities - the 1943 Newcastle death which you've posted, and this one:

Geographically, the Newcastle death looks by far the more likely of the two, but only the cert will tell you definitely.

Unlikely - the age is wrong

Not querying Mary’s birth - querying Thomas’s, which you clearly don’t have

Can’t begin to look for his death without knowing when he was born. His age (if he gave it accurately) will be on his marriage cert - as will his father’s details (if known)
