Hello, John Blackburn marries Ann Boazman on 26 April 1747 at Great Stainton, Co Durham. There are four entries for this marriage on FMP. Two for Great Stainton, one for Stainton le Street and one for Durham England. I'm sure these four entries are for the same marriage but could someone place take a look at all four. On Durham Records online the marriage is listed, the district is Stockton which Great Stainton falls under but the abode for John Blackburn says the parish of Church Limpton. I've googled Church Limpton (which I think is a place) but nothing is coming up. Thank you.

Both Ancestry and FamilySearch have only one record - the one in Great Stainton.

I don't have a sub to FMP, but would guess that means there's only the one marriage.

Thanks Argyll, any ideas on where Church Limpton could be. I can't find any children for this marriage so was wondering if they may have been born there.

Re Church Limpton -

No idea - but I wonder if it might have something to do with Kirklevington, formerly Kirk Leventon, also known as Kirk Linton?

Perhaps someone thought the proper name should be Church Linton , and then mis-heard the "Linton" part ???
Wild guess!

the births i posted in norfolk could be the john and ann you are looking for as the only marriage in norfolk in in 1777 so the children born 1754-1758 cannot be their children

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 7 Feb 2021 10:05

How did you work back to this couple if you weren't able to find births of children?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 7 Feb 2021 10:08

I suspect these are the parents of the Lancashire child whose birth Malyon posted:

About ‘working back’. Put Boazman in advanced search. Some clues there ;-)

All same marriage - transcripts only so can't check spelling

England marriages gives place as Stainton le Street

Durham marriages (2 entries) gives both S le S and Great Stainton which are apparently the same place(google)

Boyds marriage index gives Stainton Great

Not finding any info on Church Limpton - maybe a hamlet that no longer exists

Marian Report 7 Feb 2021 19:54

Hello everyone, thank you for the above. I was expecting Ann's parents to be John and Margaret Boazman/Boseman because I had found a marriage for John Boseman to Margrett Younge 1710 Staynton in Strata yet another name for Great Stainton and Stainton le Street. I had assumed these were the parents of Ann (and also Mary and John) because there is a baptism for Margrett Boseman 3 October 1711 at Great Stainton, parents John and Margret.
I had seen a marriage for Ann Boazman to John Blackburn on family search but couldn't find a baptism for Ann. I then found a Will for John Boseman of Great Stainton dated 1 October 1750. Unfortunately he does not refer to his wife by name only by "his dear wife". He then goes on to mention his daughter Margaret wife of George Boseman (Boseman marrying a Boseman), his son in law Anthony Dodgson (married to Mary) his son in law John Blackburn (married to Ann) and then mentions his son John. Aren't Wills wonderful. So, was John married to Margrett first who then died after Margrett was born and the married Ann Eden within 2 years. Can anyone find a baptism for Margaret apart from the one I mention? Thank you again for the above.
PS - these Boazmans are a nightmare as a lot of Johns seem to marry a lot of Anns over the years :-(

It would be better to keep all your Boazman enquiries on one thread.

Marian

Marian Report 10 Feb 2021 16:39

Hello Erika, do you mean if I need any more help on the Boazman family (which I know I will have) I should keep it on this thread or start another thread with the name Boazman in the heading? Thank you.

PS - I have had Boazman enquiries in the past.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 10 Feb 2021 16:42

I know!! - there's a long list of threads you have posted connected with the name

Marian

Marian Report 10 Feb 2021 17:01

So going forward do you advise keeping this thread but changing the heading to something like Boazman family - thanks.
