I am trying to find a birth record and census records for my GGrandmother, born Lillian Edith Knott, 24/3/1877, Westminster, London. I have details of her marriage in 1902 Pimlico to George William Knight where it states her Father was Jack Knott a carpenter. Thankyou

Please say where you obtained info about her exact DoB..........and how you know she was born in Westminster if you don't have her birth record or census details
What address did she give when she married?
Who were the witnesses?

Jack could just be a nickname, or what he was known as in the family.
There is nobody called specifically Jack Knott in the 1871 or 1881 censuses.
BUT, having said that, Lilian Maude's 1908 marriage seems to rule her out.

Steve gave an exact DoB - he has been asked to identify the source, also to say how he knows where she was born, as he is asking for census info as well as birth info
He has also been asked for the names of witnesses, and the woman's address when she married
He has access to Ancestry, as I understand it

On his Ancestry tree, Steve gives his sources for POB and DOB as the 1911 census , and 1939 Register - neither of which are proof.
He also names the 1950 death record already posted, which says she was 72 at death. If her birthday was indeed in March, that would mean she was born in 1878 - but of course that's not necessarily accurate either.

No, indeed, they aren't proof.
Hence my asking for additonal info
If Steve returns, one can only hope he will supply it.
Ditto on his other thread

That's what I mean - he can't supply proof of DOB or POB. He's just going by 1911 and 1939.

At 39 Westmoreland Street in 1901 - but I agree, no relation:

At the same address, but a different household, there's a Pelchey [Petchey]/Bennett family.
Alfred Petchey in the 1901 England Census Name: Alfred Petchey Age: 56 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1845 Relation to Head: Head Gender: Male Spouse: Fanny Petchey Birth Place: Stadhampton, Hertfordshire, England Civil Parish: St George Hanover Square Ecclesiastical parish: St Gabriel Warwick Square County/Island: London Country: England Street Address: Registration District: St George Hanover Square Sub-registration District: Belgrave ED, institution, or vessel: 33 Neighbors: Piece: 88 Folio: 134 Page Number: 8 Household Schedule Number: 54 Household Members: Name Age Alfred Petchey 56 Fanny Petchey 57 Happy Bennett 25 - married daughter Alfred Petchey 23 Joseph Willm Petchey 20 Alice Petchey 19 George Petchey 16 Fanny Bennett 11/12 Frederick Smith 20 - lodger
In 1911 the Petcheys are living elsewhere. Maybe they left between the 1901 census and Sept 1902, and perhaps George and Lillian were there then
